Charity is not Enough!

It is quite easy to live life by ignoring problems around you which are not directly related to you. However, it is not the best way tolive. Indeed it is very insensitive way to live your life. By closing your eyes, reality will not change. Quantum physics does not work at this level.

I am talking about poor and underprivileged peoples. There is no end to their suffering. Every winter people die because of extreme cold as they do not have shelter and woollen cloth to keep them warm. In summer they die because of extreme hot temperature. In between they die because of hunger, malnutrition and due to non-availability of medicine and healthcare.

All this happens around us. We read in newspapers, watch inTV and sometimes saw from our own eyes. But instead of doing something, we gossip about it and move on! As if someone else has to do something for them. Manypeople hold government responsible as if someone else elected government forthem. In democracy, it is responsibility of every citizen to be politicallyactive and caste vote to right candidate. Blaming government is futile. As blame come back to us.

It is not that no one is doing anything for them, there are many NGO’s doing remarkable work to help needy people. The main problem is at individual level. We have time for everything except to help someone to live life better. You might consider yourself nice person because you regularly give charity. But did you ever enquire whether your charity is reaching to right hand or it is consumed before by others?  According to one Hindustan Times report:

“The Delhi high court has called for toughening of licensing norms for NGOs observing that 99% of them are “fraud” and “merely money making devices”.

In such scenario, giving charity is not enough. On contrary, it may happen that your charity is being used for wrong purposes. The best way out is to check personally where your money is going or find needy people around you and help them in whatever way you can. Your little time and effort can bring huge change in someone’s life.

Charity is not the only way to help. Sometimes your kind words, a smile and little time can make bigger impact then money. It is not always the poor who need help, sometimes well to do peoples stuck in such situation that they are on mercy of poor peoples. Surprisingly, they never let you down. Thus, do not think yourself superior and other inferior if you are helping them. We all are human and we all are equal. It is our responsibility to help those who left behind because of various reasons. Love all, help others and hate none.

Humanity First

We, the human, created so many geo-socio-political differences among ourselves that sometimes we forget that we all are human being. These differences are causing aversion, genocides, wars, riots, revolts, mutinies and ethnic cleansing based on gender inequality, nationality, race, color, caste, eating habits, and religion. We all have only one similarity -We all are humans. If we start focusing on that, all other differences will perish.

Time has come when we have to raise ourselves above caste, color, gender, religion, ethnicity, profitability, nationality and all other such differences and to keep humanity first. We all share same planet, same atmosphere and same hydrosphere. There is no better planet than the earth in our vicinity. It might takes 500 years or more to reach any habitable planet outside our solar system. Therefore, earth is our only hope for existence of human being and life in general. Colonizing Mars in near term is a hoax. Mars and moon, the nearest destination devoid of water and oxygen, can only be used as a temporary workstation for refueling, research, and launching of rockets for deep space exploration. It will be like Antarctica. People will go there for exploration and scientific studies but not to spent entire life.

We all have to work together for sustainability of our planet. We must remove all our differences and work for Global sustainability. Climate change is real. Ozone depletion is real. Let us join hands and make earth a better place not just for us but also for coming generation. Small contribution can make a big impact. Start planting trees. Save paper. Do not waste water and electricity. Before wasting foodstuff, please think about millions of starving children dying because of lack of food and malnutrition. It is better to eat less than to waste food. Find NGO’s and poor peoples around you who can take your left over food. When you make a charity, make sure your money is going to right place. Many NGO’s and NPO’s spent more on themselves than on the cause. Just donating is not enough. Make sure to donate at right place.

What is Sustainable Society

When things are progressing well in our life, we do not realise any need of support and help from any one. Unfortunately, such pleasant phases do not last longer for most of us. When some unfortunate, unpleasant and unplanned thing occurs in our life, we look all around for helping hand and shoulder to lean on. But we hardly find any real help at that time, because in our good time we never care about others. Thus in our bad time, no one care about us. As a social animal, we all are dependent, (on each other), thus we must help and care for others at all time. So that when bad time comes we find many helping hands and support in the form of friends and family. To create such a community, we need what is defined below as Sustainable society. Our future and future of coming generation depends on how sensibly we use our natural resources, ecosystem and our environment. Our development should not be at cost of our future. Hence we need sustainability in all walks of our life. This total sustainability can only be guaranteed by a Sustainable society.

SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY (SS) (def. “Society that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”) refers to a community in which everyone is either self-sufficient or taken care by those who are already self-sufficient and can generate enough resources to function without any interruption. In such society everyone is well informed about his/her duties towards nature and society. It focuses on overall development of human society based on sharing and caring. Society will support everyone till they become self-sufficient. SS creates a delicate balance between development and conserving our Environment for long term sustainability of human civilisation.

Society will be responsible for providing for children, women without income, disable and old aged retired peoples who are not in condition to do any work. Not just money but kind words, care, safety, shelter, work and means for happy living are provided. Work will be distributed according to the ability and interest. There are no owners in Sustainable society. Everyone is a worker earning according to his/her capacity and contributing back to society. Everything will be done in a planned way keeping future in mind.

A family, not the individual is the smallest unit of society. So SS promote the idea of family-nuclear or extended depending on personal choice. A management comprising of educated intellectuals will run the society.
